A 43-year-old construction worker died in India after reportedly having a heart attack during a screening of Avengers: Infinity War.

The man was watching the Marvel film at a cinema in Proddatur, southern India, when the tragedy happened.

Staff noticed that Peddapasupula Baasha was not moving near the end of the 3D screening of the film, but believed that he was most likely waiting for a bonus scene after the credits had rolled. However, when he did not move after some time, they investigated further and realised that he had died with his eyes open.

Rural police were called the cinema and examined the scene. Times of India reported that a suspicious case had been opened but noted that this was a formality under the categorisation his death was registered under.

It was reported that it was likely that he suffered a cardiac arrest or died of some other form of natural causes, though the investigation continues.

Avengers: Infinity War has broken numerous records since it was released, pulling in around £460m in its first weekend. It is set to earn even greater sums when it is released in China - the world's second biggest movie market - on 11 May.

The film features a swathe of Hollywood's top acting talent including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chadwick Boseman in the role of Black Panther and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

In addition to its mega success at the box office, the film has gone down well with critics, achieving an 84 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, not bad for a film juggling a huge number of star characters (and A-list Hollywood names) with their various side stories.

One of the most anticipated releases of the year (possibly decade), the film's success has had fans talking about the ins and outs of its story ever since it was released.

Despite his villainy, some have suggested that Thanos' desire to destroy half of the universe is justifiable in the context of overpopulation and resource scarcity, leading to much social media debate and a fair few emojis fired in anger.

Others have noted that the ending of the film was revealed well over a year ago, though this doesn't seem to have spoiled the enjoyment for many.
