Sometimes, it's not great being a ginger. You spent 11 months getting picked on because of your hair and then for a month in the summer, you get burned. Well, today is your one day a year to celebrate, as it's National Redhead Day: a fiesta for Ron Weasleys everywhere to revel in the redheadedness.

Sure, you might not be able to enjoy it with anyone else this year - but then, you're probably used to that by now. It's a lockdown joke, not a "gingers have no mates" joke, I promise. Instead, you can drink to your fellow redheads with a drink on the house, thanks to Fever Tree. They're doing a promotion at O'Brien's off licenses all over Ireland where you can simple turn up, be ginger and grab yourself a complimentary Ginger Ale and whiskey. Obviously, you'll have to be over 18 and etc to get in on this.

Fever Tree even released some marketing to get you in the mood: "Fever-Tree Ginger Ale has an unmistakable flavour, created by using a blend of three of the world's finest naturally sourced gingers, with citrus notes and a clean finish meaning it is an ideal mixer to add to the finest Irish whiskies," they said. We'll not disagree: whiskey is always good and ginger ale is generally a good accompaniment to it.

Fever Tree might rue their promotion, however. Ireland is home to the world' second largest population of gingas. They might be just 1% of the global population, but thousands of them are here in Ireland: in fact, the only place with more is Great Britain - where 1 in 9 people is of Irish descent anyway. If you take it just based redheads per head of population, we're miles in front, with a full 10% of all Irish sporting ginger locks. It's something to make you proud of. Now go celebrate, with your free whiskey and ginger ale - after all the years of abuse, you deserve it.
