A fire has broken out at a residential building in Ulsan, South Korea today (8 October).

Footage shows the blaze as it erupted in the building. The fire reportedly started at around 11.07pm local time (around 3:07pm GMT).

According to Yonhap, 15 people have been hospitalised from the 33-story apartment block for smoke inhalation.

According to the MailOnline, shortly after the fire began emergency services rushed out to clear the 136-household block of all its residents.

According to local news sites, firefighters from the Ulsan Fire Department are currently extinguishing the blaze.

It's believed that the fire spread through the building helped by the strong winds currently being experienced in the area.

Chosun.com reported how the flames spread to a shopping centre next door but that has now been put out.

According to the Ulsan Fire Department, aside from the 15 people rushed to hospital, 43 residents were evacuated to the rooftop where specialist on-site crews were taking care of them.

The fire department added they suspect the fire began on the 12th floor before sweeping up the building.
