Food Served At 2021 Met Gala Which Cost $30k A Ticket Is Slammed

The food served at the prestigious fashion event - that costs roughly $30K a ticket - has been ruthlessly slammed.

The Met Gala is one of the most exclusive events on the calendar, attracting some of the biggest names in politics, fashion, sports and entertainment.

And with tickets for the star-studded do setting guests back a hefty $30,000 (£21,000), you'd think the grub would be at least five star.

However, when American actor Keke Palmer attended the event this week and showed her fans what she was tucking into, it left a lot to be desired.

One dish from the night looked particularly desperate, with the 28-year-old sharing a photo of some tomatoes, sweetcorn, a few slices of cucumber and a solitary mushroom on her plate.

The image was captioned: "This why they don't show y'all the food. I'm just playinnnn."

According to reports, the vegan menu for the glitzy night was put together by some of the biggest names in New York's culinary circuit: Emma Bengtsson, Abdullahi, Nasim Alikhani, Lazarus Lynch, Junghyun Park, Erik Ramirez, Thomas Raquel, Sophia Roe, Simone Tong, and Fabian von Hauske.

But it's safe to say that their efforts haven't impressed people online.

Writing on Twitter, one user said: "Met gala serving this s***? Oh hell nah they making public school lunch food look pleasing."

Another critic chimed in: "The guests at the Met Gala after eating that disgusting food."

"A Met Gala host Keke Palmer shared the food they're serving, and I'm shocked. This is what $30,000 gets you????" put a third.

While another added: "One of the most iconic moments is Keke Palmer exposing Met Gala's terrible food and menu."

It's not just the food at the event that has confused people, though.

Kim Kardashian had people talking when she rocked up resembling a literal silhouette in an all-black Balenciaga outfit that covered her entire body and face.

In preparation for the celeb-studded event, Kardashian visited her go-to Hollywood makeup artist to have her face slathered in designer cosmetics, including Crème de la Mer and her own range KKW Beauty.

Mario Dedivanovic, founder and CEO of Makeup By Mario, shared some behind-the-scenes photos of Kardashian getting ready, writing on Instagram: "Prepping for the #MetGala today with @kimkardashian."

But after seeing her final red carpet look, many people pointed out that her time in the makeup chair seemed fairly pointless.

Posting a screengrab from Mario's Instagram post and a photo of Kardashian at the Met Gala, one Twitter user wrote: "Was it worth it Mario ????? Was it ????"
