Footage has been released that shows notorious drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman escaping from one of Mexico's highest security prisons. You can see how he did it in the video below.
The newly released video was shared by the Mexican government, and shows the moment that the former Sinaloa Cartel boss broke free from the Altiplano Federal Prison in the town of Almolova de Juarez on 11 July 2015.
He got out by climbing through a tiny hole in the wall of his cell, next to the shower, then scaling a ladder down a 10-metre hole.
Guzman then went down a tunnel that had been fitted with lighting and ventilation on a specially adapted motorbike which ran on tracks.
It's incredible, really.
The video was taken within El Chapo's cell, which was monitored at all times. However, it would seem he was well aware of the parts of the room that the camera couldn't reach, and took that to his advantage to make his escape.
The drug kingpin can be seen standing in the shower of his cell, before bending down to access the tunnel, which is clearly out of sight.
It's not the only time that he made a run for it after being incarcerated, as Guzman also famously escaped from prison back in 2001.
In fact, it was the same prison.
On that occasion, he bribed some of the staff working at the prison and managed to get out after hiding in a laundry basket.
He was later recaptured and sent to prison once again in 2014, but - as you can see - he didn't stay cooped up for that long then, either.
It's thought that the escape in the video was made possible after two of Guzman's sons purchased some land near to the prison and started digging the tunnel.
Court documents reveal that one of Chapo's team had turned informer on him, which helped them get to the bottom of this.
They state: "According to [informant] Cooperating Witness 1, Guzman, through [his wife Emma] Coronel, asked Guzman's sons to purchase a piece of land near Altiplano prison and instructed Cooperating Witness 1 to purchase a warehouse near Altiplano prison as well as firearms and an armoured truck.
"Those present also discussed the need to get a GPS watch to Guzman in prison in order to pinpoint his exact whereabouts so as to construct the tunnel with an entry point accessible to him."
El Chapo is currently serving a life sentence at a US maximum security prison, ADX Florence.
