A group of Swiss men have been arrested after filming themselves driving at speeds of 140mph while appearing to pass around a bottle of Jagermeister.

The four men, who were aged between 20 and 23 years old, shared the video on social media at the end of December 2020.

According to reports, they were driving at over 143mph (230kph). At one stage in the video, the driver can be seen holding a cigarette in one hand while holding a bottle of the strong drink. He was singing along to loud music.

After the video, which for some reason, they shared online, did the rounds, it wasn't long until it fell into the hand of the police. They soon launched an investigation into the incident.

With the help of Traffic Control Specialists, all of the men were identified. The Zurich Police Department then arrested all four of them at their homes on Tuesday 26 January.

The car that they were seen driving in the video was a Volkswagen Golf R. The vehicle was also confiscated.

All the men were taken in for questioning, with police confirming the detainees were all Swiss citizens.

The driver lives in the canton of Aargau, which is towards the north of the country. He is being investigated for multiple violations of the country's traffic laws.

The three others in the video were passengers. They all live in the canton of Zurich and were released from custody.

Reports state that the driver could now face a prison sentence. It could be anywhere between one to four years based on the fact that he exceeded the maximum speed by over 80kph (49mph).

Police are continuing their investigation.

But another speeding driver was more defensive, telling UK police that she is 'allowed 12 points'.

Officers stopped the driver of a speeding Range Rove in Bury, Greater Manchester, after she was caught driving at 47mph in a 30mph zone.

The driver - who already had three points on her licence for speeding - told officers when they pulled her over: "Well I'm allowed 12 points."

Greater Manchester Police Bury North condemned the woman's 'poor attitude' in a Facebook post.

The post read: "#TRANSPORTUNIT officers issued 5 Traffic offence reports whilst conducting speed enforcement on Bury Road, Bury.

"The driver of this Range Rover was doing 47mph in a 30mph zone.

"Already having 3 points on her licence for speeding, her reply to officers was "well I'm allowed 12 points". Poor attitude towards road safety."
