Girl Wins World Book Day By Dressing As Ms Trunchbull From Matilda

With World Book Day, kids are able to dress up as whoever they want from their favourite page-turner.

While everyone's outfit is a winner, this seven year old girl certainly takes the cake with her unbelievable character from Roald Dahl's iconic Matilda.

Loads of kids might want to dress up as the titular character or maybe even Miss Honey, but not Lilly Cant.

This bold child embodied the character that scared the pants off everyone when they read the book or saw the movie: Ms Agatha Trunchbull.

Lilly, from Torquay, Devon, had her mum Laura, 29, in absolute stitches when she moseyed off to St Marychurch Primary School. Hopefully she didn't intimidate anyone at school and demand their lunch money.

To fully embody Ms Trunchbull, Lilly wore the classic 1972 Olympics hoodie, drew on a monobrow, and chucked on a weight belt and bag of shot puts.

Laura said: "Matilda is Lilly's favourite book and one of her favourite films. She wanted to go as Miss Trunchbull - I asked her why not Matilda and she said it was too easy!

"It was very easy to put together, almost all of it was ordered from eBay and I got the hoodie printed locally.

"It's fantastic because a lot of the items can be re used for every day use - the belt is her step dad's!

"She was bursting at it all when the whole look came together, she couldn't wait to go to school! She gets such a buzz from dressing up and everyone knew exactly who she was straight away!"

But Lilly has some competition for the crown of best World Book Day costume after Isaac Stevenson decided to turn up to his school in Staffordshire dressed as West Coast rapper and NWA founding member Eazy muthaf***in' E.

Whilst Eazy-E hasn't actually written any books, and died in 1995, he's actually one of the subjects of several books about the seminal West Coast rap group.

In this instance, it's Parental Discretion Is Advised, which makes his costume choice less questionable than some of the other efforts you'll see today.

Speaking of parental discretion, Isaac's dad Julian Stevenson told LADbible about why his son made this bizarre World Book Day choice.

He said: "Isaac gets obsessed with stuff. He's obsessed with BMXing, and he's obsessed with West Coast rap.

"He's got a brother who is 18 years old and they watched [NWA biopic] Straight Outta Compton, obviously he shouldn't have done because he was like 11 at the time, but it ended up with him getting really into Eazy-E.

"Nope, not Dre, which would have been cool, Eazy-E. He is totally obsessed with him."

Hey, as far as childhood obsessions go, this is a fairly cool one.
