Gregg Wallace has opened up about his love of fitness, saying he feels stronger than he did during his younger days.

But the MasterChef host has now revealed that it's not just pumping iron in the gym that has led to his incredible physique - he also makes sure he gets plenty of 'early nights' with his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, 33.

Wallace, 55, was speaking to former rugby players Andy Goode and Jim Hamilton on their Rugby Pod podcast, when he was asked about his fitness regime.

He joked: "Well, listen, having a beautiful wife 22 year's younger you sort of helps, ya know. That's a bit of encouragement.

"But I'll tell you the secret of how I lost weight. I come home and my young wife would say I could cook dinner... or we can have an early night. Consequently I lost another half a stone. Early nights instead of dinner."

Gregg Wallace said the 'secret' to his toned physique was 'early nights' with Anne.

The dad-of-three also said that he loved lifting weights and never felt better.

Gregg told the podcast: "I am as fit as a butcher's dog. And let me tell you, I've done an exercise routine for one of the Sunday papers - I can't tell you which - and that's gonna come out.

"But... I'm fitter and stronger than I was when I played rugby. I've now lost four stone and last time we measure it I was 18 percent fat, and I'm 55 years old - and I just love this strength and fitness.

"I'm absolutely loving it, I'm gonna push this on until my 60s because I am really enjoying it."

However, Gregg recently admitted that he might have to start taking it a bit easier at the gym as Anne has told him she doesn't want him to get 'too muscly'.

The MasterChef presenter says he loves health and fitness.

Gregg told MailOnline that she doesn't like the veiny look.

He said: "Falling in love with a much younger woman is incentive to look after yourself.

"I am very aware she is 22 years younger than me. But saying that, she doesn't care.

"The only thing she does say is 'don't get too muscly, I don't like all the veins!'"

Last year, Gregg took to social media to show off his new look, posting a selfie revealing his washboard abs.

Praising his efforts, one fan wrote: "You're an absolute unit Greg, complete legend."

While another added: "Whoa I thought you liked pudding Gregg?! Must be the healthiest pudding on the planet!"
