An Ibiza lover has launched a fundraiser to pay for his drinks while on the party island, having already forked out £650 ($860) for a sunbed at Wayne Lineker's Ocean Beach bar.

Dave Nightingale, 50, is asking the public 'not to be shy' by sharing 'a few cents' for his trip next month, despite the fact the sunbed package he's purchased already includes plenty of booze.

Bathroom fitter Dave boasted how he's already spent £3,000 ($3,900) on his and 45-year-old wife Lisa Nightingale's five-day getaway with two friends, and shared plans to take £1,500 ($1,900) in spending money.

But now he's launched a cheeky crowdfunding campaign via GoFundMe to get others to donate to his cunning cause, even sharing the page in a group for Ibiza fans group last week - not that anyone had pledged anything at the time of writing.

Dave's GoFundMe page said: "Hi guys. Off to Ibiza in September and would love to be able to buy a drink in Ocean Beach instead of sitting empty-handed on my bed all day.

"Last time I went, I had to order ice and wait for it to melt for a drink as I was warned by security for drinking the pool water.

"C'mon, you all must have a couple of cents left over. Don't be shy. Much appreciated."

Of course, he's since admitted the bit about ordering ice was just a joke, in case that one passed you by.

The couple's holiday next month will be their second visit to Ibiza in just two months, keeping up their five-year tradition of having two holidays to the popular party resort annually.

Dave, from Warrington, Cheshire, said: "People are always complaining about how expensive it all is, so I thought I'd set up a GoFundMe and see if someone would pay for my drinks.

"If I end up raising enough I'd get a bottle of Ciroc vodka and they're around €250, but I'd love to raise a few grand to pay for the trip.

"All that [stuff in my GoFundMe appeal] about drinking from the pool, that's totally made up. I wasn't that poor."

This will be Dave and business support manager Lisa's third time visiting the bar, having splashed out on a bed and the €25 admission tickets on his second visit last year.

He said the bed, which can fit up to eight people, will set him back €720 (£655). This includes €625 (£560) to spend on food and drink of his choice.

Despite the fact dad-of-two Dave is asking for cash to help out, he backs Ocean Beach's high prices, as he believes it's something that puts youngsters off.

He continued: "I think it's worth the amount of money you pay in those big places because there's nothing else like it, and plus the prices keep all the teenagers out.

"You've got to have some release once or twice a year, and we don't mind spending that much at Ocean Beach as a one-off."

The couple will be jetting off to Ibiza on 24 September.

Ocean Beach has been contacted for comment.
