'In America We Worship God Not The Government' Voted Donald Trump's Best Quote

The former POTUS came up with some gold during his time in office

Now that the dust has settled on Donald Trump's years in charge of the United States, some of the former President's most memorable soundbites have been ranked by the good people of the internet.

The one that comes out on top is: "In America we worship God not the government".

OK, so that seems fairly tame when you consider the entirety of his presidency. There's nothing about 's***hole countries' or mocking disabled people, or complaining about an election that he lost fair and square.

However, that's what the people have voted for on listing website Ranker.

The list claims to answer the questions 'what are the best Donald Trump quotes?' and 'what is the most famous Donald Trump quote?' so it therefore includes quite a few of the former President's... let's say 'pearls of wisdom'.

Other high ranking quotes include: "You have to think anyway, so why not think big?"

That ranks just ahead of: "Nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated."

That last one is a bit more like it.

In fourth place is: "Part of being a winner is knowing when enough is enough. Sometimes you have to give up that fight and walk away, and move onto something that's more productive."

Presumably the irony-immune 45th President of the United States wasn't talking about election results there, and the thing that is 'more productive' is playing another 18 holes of golf around his beloved Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

In fact, the list is full of quotes that shine a light onto the inner beliefs of The Donald.

They're often completely contradictory to his actions, and frequently make absolutely no sense.

For example, one is: "I am very educated, I have learned good words. I have the best words."

That's nice, Don.

Another reads: "One of the key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace. Good people don't go into government."

Said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet there, perhaps?

Another nugget of pure gold reads: "Experience taught me a few things. One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper.

"The second is that you're generally better off sticking with what you know. And the third is that sometimes your best investments are the ones you don't make."

Righty ho.

Anyway, now he's out of the White House, it's fun to have a look back on the previous five years as if they were some sort of strange and unusual fever dream.

Even those of us outside the US can get a kick out of that.
