Fortunately the two shots weren't fatal, though Ruby is in a worrying condition, having to fight for her life.
Police arrived on the scene after neighbours heard loud screams and noises, finding the teen outside her home lying on the ground as she bled out. She was taken to a local hospital at around 4am where her condition was confirmed as critical.
After initial tests she was taken to a private hospital in Moradabad, the Mail reports.
"It's an honour killing case. The girl told us at the hospital that she was shot by her brother and father after they came to know about her relationship," Officer Brahmapal Singh Baliyan, from Asmoli Police Station, said.

52-year-old Sameraj and 32-year-old Iftikhar were both arrested at the scene under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code following the attack and several other members of the family are due to be questioned once Ruby is able to give a statement.
Due to a lack of medical facilities she was transferred to a private hospital in Moradabad, around 40 kms (25 miles) away.
"She arrived in a semi conscious state and was bleeding heavily. Her blood pressure was really low and she was barely able to speak," Emergency Medical Officer at the District Hospital, Dr Jitender Singh, said.
