Joe Biden's Dogs Moved Out Of White House Following 'Biting Incident'

Joe Biden's dogs have reportedly been moved out of the White House following a 'biting incident'.

Three-year-old German Shepherd Major - who was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association in November 2018 - was responsible for the incident involving a member of security, according to CNN.

The condition of the victim is unknown but both Major and Champ have been returned to the family home in Delaware.

A person familiar with the dogs' schedule confirmed to CNN that they had returned to Delaware, but pointed out that they had stayed there previously on occasions when the first lady is out of town, as she is currently.

Champ and Major officially moved into the presidential building on 24 January - four days after Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.

Speaking about the transition, Dr Jill Biden's press secretary Michael LaRosa told CNN: "The First Family wanted to get settled before bringing the dogs down to Washington from Delaware.

"Champ is enjoying his new dog bed by the fireplace, and Major loved running around on the South Lawn."

Dr Biden recently discussed the challenge of getting her dogs acclimatised to the White House.

Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she said: "I've been getting obsessed with getting our dogs settled because we have an old dog and we have a very young dog.

"They have to take the elevator, they're not used to that, and they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them. So that's what I've been obsessed with, getting everybody settled and calm."

She added that they're not allowed on the furniture - though she caught Major on the sofa once - and they 'run all over'.

Under Trump's tenure, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was a pet-free zone for the first time since James K. Polk was president from 1845 to 1849.

After the pooches moved into the White House, Biden tweeted a photo of them by his side in the Oval Office.

He captioned the snap: "Not many people have Oval Office walk-in privileges. Happy to report that these two are on the list."
