Firefighters on South Australia's Kangaroo Island will be celebrating after containing the massive bushfire that tore through half the island.
The blaze has ripped through more than 220,000 hectares of land, killed two people, destroyed more than 60 homes and hundreds of buildings, and wiped out thousands of animals.

The South Australia Country Fire Service (CFS) said the bushfire is now officially contained, meaning there has been no spread of the fire and no flare-ups outside the perimeter.
"Crews have worked tirelessly to ensure that the fire edge has been blacked out and secure," the CFS said in a statement.
While it is massive news for the men and women who have been working tirelessly to keep everyone on the island safe, it doesn't mean their work is over just yet.
The CFS added: "Wednesday and Thursday this week are days of increased fire weather with north- westerly winds forecast early Wednesday morning before changing to westerly winds in the afternoon.

"Associated with these conditions is the potential for breakouts to occur to the south and east of the fire edge.
"We are advising the community that while there is no immediate threat from this fire and the fire is contained, there is the potential for the situation to change.
"There are still active areas of burning vegetation, trees, tree roots and stumps and we will still see smoke coming from this fireground in the days and potential weeks to come."
While authorities haven't officially ruled on what sparked the massive inferno, it's believed it was started by a lightning strike in December.
