The parents of missing Madeleine McCann have shared a heartbreaking post listing the things they miss most about their little girl as the family is set to face their 13th Christmas without her.

Kate and Gerry, who are also mum and dad to 15-year-old twins, shared a post on the Find Madeleine Facebook page, which read: "Reasons we miss Madeleine - holding her, hugging her, kissing the top of her head. Lying next to her. Out complete family of five. Everything. We miss her. Please help us get her home."

Find Madeleine

Madeleine disappeared while on a family holiday to Praia da Luz, a resort town in the Algarve, Portugal.

Madeleine and her baby twin siblings were left to sleep in the family's apartment while Kate and Gerry visited a nearby restaurant with friends.

The parents periodically checked in on the kids, who were 55 metres away from the restaurant, but around 10pm Kate returned to the apartment to find Madeleine had vanished.

An investigation into her disappearance, named Operation Grange, has cost £12million to date, but has yielded no results.

Earlier this year, a Netflix documentary titled The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann took an in-depth look at the case.

The eight-part of documentary spoke to a number of people close to the case including police and journalists, but Kate and Gerry declined to take part.

In a statement at the time, they said: "We are aware that Netflix are planning to screen a documentary in March 2019 about Madeleine's disappearance.

"The production company told us that they were making the documentary and asked us to participate.

"We did not see - and still do not see - how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, it could potentially hinder it.

"Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the programme. We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme."

Kate and Gerry have always held out hope that their daughter will return. Speaking on her 14th birthday, back in 2017, they said: "We love you and we're waiting for you and we're never going to give up."
