Remember the Kiwi gang member who got a massive facial tattoo and then said he was worried that it may impact his chances of finding a job? Well, he's now got a job, so fair play.

Puk Kireka, a member of the Mongrel Mob, got the word 'notorious' in black and red ink right across the lower part of his face for some reason, admitted that it would probably difficult to find a career with the tattoo, but said he was determined to find work within the sporting industry.

Now, Stuff has reported that Kireka has indeed got himself a job as a personal trainer after gym owner Robbie Gale said he wanted to give the mobster a chance.

Speaking to Stuff, Gale said: "Everyone judged Puk at first glance without taking the time to get to know the real man underneath the mask.

"I think if we all commit to helping just one person in their life, we could solve a lot of the problems that exist in our society."

Sounds like a nice type of fella, doesn't he?

And if giving him a job wasn't enough, Gale has also offered to pay for Kireka's first year at Eastern Institute of Technology, where he's set to start a court in sport and exercise science this month. What a guy.

Gale added: "I have invested in Puk to teach him skills that will not only change his life but that of his future generations.

"People should support change because no matter who you are or what life has thrown at you, I think everyone deserves a chance at a good life."

Naturally, Kireka is delighted with the turn of events, he told the news outlet: "I feel pretty blessed, for someone to just reach out. He's gone and given me an opportunity that I need.

"He wants me to stay on the straight and narrow and not fall back into bad habits."

His partner Waiora Tahere has said she's 'really excited' about her other half's new job.

Kireka hit headlines around the world for his... unusual tattoo, even coming in for some stick from rapper 50 Cent, who shared a photo of the tattooed dad-of-three with the caption: "What the f**k is really going on man. I wonder why he can't get a job?"

Time to eat your words, Fiddy.
