A few months on from his devastating defeat in the boxing ring, Logan Paul has stepped into the Octagon to try his hand at mixed martial arts. And he got knocked out. Unsurprisingly.

The YouTube star has shared a video from his sparring session with professional fighter Paulo Costa at the UFC performance institute.

But it didn't end well for Paul who, despite getting a few shots off, was quickly and brutally put down.

In the video, Paul explains: "This morning we came here to the UFC performance institute. Apparently they want me to spar a guy by the name of Paulo Costa.

"He's not a human, he's a bear - he's a 13 and 0 undefeated UFC fighter.

"I don't think he liked the way I looked at him at dinner last night or something - but it's a good thing I'm a professional boxer now who's 0 and 1, goddammit.

"They put the headgear on me, not him. That's how you know I'm f***ed."

But despite having seven shades kicked out of him, Costa's trainer came out and praised the social media star, revealing he had impressed him in the grappling session and that he has what it takes to make it.

He said: "You're gonna do MMA for sure. You know how to fight."

With Costa himself adding: "Ninety percent of guys who go to train MMA have good technique, but not hard spirit, not big heart you know. You have both."

Hmm. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether he takes their advice and gives the UFC a go.

But the chances are, if there's money in it and the opportunity to stay relevant for a little while longer, Logan Paul will do it.

It's been a bad few weeks for Paul, who was roundly criticised earlier this year after he appeared to poke fun at the coronavirus outbreak.

The 24-year-old shared a picture of himself topless with four women, with all but one of them wearing gas masks.

And it didn't end well.

He captioned the photo: "F*** the corona virus."

The exact intention behind the post is unclear, but it seemed many people considered it inappropriate, given the extent of the harm caused by the virus and its spread.

One person said: "People are dying from the coronavirus. Nothing to joke about. Guess he never learns."

Another said: "Man this isn't funny at all. It's spreading all over the world."

A third added: "There are people in China dying and you making a joke out of it?"

Last night, it was announced that the Italian government extended its coronavirus quarantine restrictions to include the whole country.

People are now only be able to travel for work and family emergencies, and all sporting matches and large gatherings have been suspended until further notice. Restaurants and cafes have also been told they must close at dusk.
