Ever since the death of David Bowie in January, fans have flocked to a mural in the singer's hometown of Brixton and the street where it is located is now set to be renamed after the music legend.
Lambeth Council has confirmed the mural, which can be found on the side of Morley's department store in Tunstall Place, has been listed to ensure its protection. They are also looking to rename the area after the Thin White Duke, although the singer's family will have the final say.
They said in a statement: "Lambeth council is set to locally list the David Bowie mural beside Morley's in Brixton that became a shrine to the artist who died in January. Local listing would protect the mural and the council is also considering renaming the area where the mural is in Tunstall Place.
"The council is in contact with Bowie's family about the many suggestions for a permanent memorial, including statues and place naming."
A nice tribute to the Brixton boy.
