A man has, somehow, survived after he 'fell' into a tiger enclosure at a zoo in Saudi Arabia.

Distressing footage from the incident has been shared online, showing the man on his back before being set upon by the powerful cat.

In the clip, the Bengali tiger can be seen pouncing on him, before tearing into his upper body at Riyadh Zoo this week.

According to reports, the man has been named locally as Mohammed Abdul Mohsen, a 24-year-old Sudanese expat.

It's understood that employees were alerted to the attack at around 10.30am. After arriving on the scene, they then shot the animal with sedative darts.

The 24-year-old somehow landed in the tiger enclosure, where he was attacked.

A statement released by the Riyadh Municipality said that after making sure the tiger had been sedated, zoo keepers were able to rescue the injured man, pulling him out of the pit.

Mr Mohsen was rushed to a nearby hospital where it was found that he had sustained injuries to his neck and feet. He is said to be in a stable condition and recovering from his wounds.

It's not yet clear as to how he came to be inside the tiger enclosure; some reports have claimed he used a rope to lower himself down, but Mr Mohsen has denied these allegations.

This isn't the first time a man has been attacked by a big cat in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a zookeeper was attacked by a lion during feeding time in front of a group of horrified visitors.

He was rushed to hospital after suffering injuries to his neck and feet.

In shocking footage that has since been released, a staff member can be seen throwing raw meat into the enclosure when the male lion attacks, biting down on his arm through the bars of the pen at Karachi Zoological Gardens in Karachi, Pakistan.

As the poor guy tries to break free, the big cat only tightens his grip and keeps him there, before he manages to escape with his arm intact... kinda.

While all this was going on, other employees of the zoo reportedly watched on.

Meanwhile, onlookers clapped, shouted and hissed at the animal in a bid to scare him off.

When the man is finally let go, he sits on the ground in shock as blood pours out of his arm, the visitors in audible distress over how to help him.

Thankfully, the zookeeper was soon rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where he is said to be in a stable condition.
