A man in his twenties has been 'blasted with a machine gun' as a 23-year-old knife victim 'fights for his life' in two separate attacks which took place in London within just 20 minutes of each other.

According to the MailOnline, police were called to the scene in Brent, north west London, last night following reports of a man with 'machine gun' wounds.

He was rushed to a central London hospital with life-threatening injuries, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.

It's been reported that a crime scene investigation is under way but there have been no arrests made.

Just 20 minutes before, emergency services had attended the scene of a stabbing in Deptford, south east London at 20:10. A 23-year-old was rushed to hospital.

The victim, who is reported to have been targeted in an assault, was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to the chest.

A helicopter was filmed flying away from the scene of the stabbing by a mobile phone.

A short time later, at 20:34, the calls came in about a 24-year-old man who was reportedly gunned down in his car - with at least 11 shots ringing out, according to witnesses.

According to The Sun, passersby said they heard shots being fired and saw a young man gunned down 'in his car'.

One wrote on Twitter: "Heard shots all the way from north side Stonebridge as they were fired I counted about 17 shots. Absolute madness!!! Enough is enough!!!"

A resident told the Evening Standard: "From what I can tell, he was sitting in his car when he got into an argument with someone who then shot at him with a machine gun (at least) 11 times.

"The police have told everyone to stay indoors."

Police cars and ambulances could be seen lining the street as officers worked near a parked car and tent.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injures and no arrests have been made, Scotland Yard said.

The Met said it has been authorised to carry out a Section 60 order, which gives them extra stop and search powers.

The night of violence comes as the capital remains in the midst of a terrifying rise in crime, including a shocking 66 murders since the beginning of the year.

Back in April thousands of people rode from London Bridge to Oxford Street in a bid to raise awareness for the lives lost and to encourage people to put the knives down.

One of the most heart-breaking stories of knife crime in London came when six teenagers were stabbed across four boroughs in just 90 minutes of each other. The youngest victim was reportedly 13 years old.
