A Syrian man blew himself up outside a music festival in Germany after being refused entry.

According to reports, the 27-year-old man detonated his backpack bomb in Ansbach where an open music festival was taking place. The blast injured 12 people as well as killing him instantly.

Thomas Debinski spoke to Sky News about the incident. He said: "People were definitely panicking, the rumour we were hearing immediately was that there had been a gas explosion.

"But then people came past and said it was a rucksack that had exploded. Someone blew themselves up. After what just happened in Munich it's very disturbing to think what can happen so close to you in such a small town."

The failed asylum seeker had entered the country two years ago but his claim was rejected. He was given temporary permission to stay in the country and was provided with an apartment due to the current situation in Syria.

According to BBC News, three of the injured people are in a very serious condition.
