A man collapsed and died after trying to eat 50 eggs in a row to win a bet.

Forty-two-year-old Subhash Yadav, from India, accompanied a friend to the Bibiganj market and reportedly started arguing with him - which somehow led to the bizarre challenge.

The two men then decided to try and eat 50 eggs, with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 (£21) to the winner.

However, tragedy struck when Mr Yadav tucked into his 42nd egg and collapsed on the spot.

According to the Gulf Today, the man was rushed to hospital before being transferred to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, but medics were unable to save him.

Doctors told reporters Mr Yadav died from 'complications due to overeating dozens of eggs'.

His family have not commented on the tragic accident, police have said.

Earlier this year, a Chinese vlogger died after eating poisonous insects and lizards during a baffling live stream challenge, which saw him spin a wheel and eat whatever item it landed on.

The vlogger, surnamed Sun, hosted a show on DouYu, which is one of China's biggest and most popular streaming platforms, and had 15,000 followers.

A report in Xinan Evening News, stated the 35-year-old wanted to boost his subscriber count by introducing a wheel which was marked with all manner of odd items, such as centipedes, geckos, mealworms, vinegar, eggs, beer and a clear distilled liquor called baijiu. He would spin the wheel and then eat or drink whatever it landed on while live on camera.

During his last tragic live stream on 18 July at around 8pm, he ate poisonous centipedes and geckos.

The vlogger was found dead by his girlfriend after eating poisonous insects.

He was discovered by his girlfriend who went to his house to check on him and found his lifeless body.

Police confirmed Sun had been found unconscious in his room and showed no signs of life.

They also said they had found a number of items he had used in his live session on his desk near his computer that was still live streaming.

Sun's videos have now been removed from DouYu.
