The short clip, which was filmed on a boat, shows the man pushing a can of what looks like Woodstock Bourbon & Cola into the belly of a dead fish.
A voice can be heard saying: "This is called the fishy."
The anonymous man then places both hands around the fish and tips his head back, pouring the bourbon through the fish's mouth and between his lips.
As he chugs, brown liquid can be seen spilling down his topless chest, with whoops and cheers from others around him.
According to Yahoo News Australia, the video has been viewed almost 450,000 times on TikTok, also attracting more than 450 comments.
According to the outlet, the majority of users' responses are negative, with people saying the clip was 'gross', 'disrespectful' and 'disgusting', and that the man in the video had 'no class'.
One commented: "I'm not an animal activist, but that's just wrong."
Another person wrote: "Bit disrespectful, I took your life, now let me drink beer from you."
Speaking to Yahoo, Australian politician Emma Hurst said such behaviour is not in line with community expectations.
She said the footage showed a 'tremendous lack of respect for animals', also questioning how people could find the death of an animal amusing.
The Animal Justice Party MP said: "It speaks volumes that people get a thrill out of mocking the death of an animal.
"Sure, the animal in that particular instance probably didn't feel any pain, but we also need to respect that there's sadness in death, not humour in death.
"That's what makes this such sick behaviour. Nobody would find it hilarious if that was a dead dog, we'd find it highly disrespectful."
The video follows a similar clip from a few years ago, in which a woman was seen chugging beer from a dead fish's mouth.
According to CBS 58, she was on the deck of a boat off Port Washington, New York, when she knelt down to drink beer as it flowed from the mouth of dead fish and straight into hers.
The video was posted to her Facebook page, captioned '#slamminsalmon', and later racked up millions of views.
She told the outlet: "You know if you look at the video, he picked it up really high. The fish's throat got caught in my throat so it was like I was choking it down.
"I was trying to breathe and not laugh at the same time, so it was kind of awful to take in all the beer, I guess."
