He also claimed the media were 'covering it up'

A furious heckler stormed a press conference in the US, claiming Joe Biden was 'stealing the election'. You can watch the video here:

The registrar of Clark County in Las Vegas, Joe Gloria, was updating the assembled press on the progress of the ballot count on Wednesday (4 November) when a livid man wearing a tank top emblazoned with the words 'BBQ, Beer, Freedom' let his feelings be known.

In an impassioned tirade, the bloke shouted: "The Biden crime family's stealing this election, the media's covering it up!

"We want our freedom from the world! Give us our freedom, Joe Biden! Biden's covering up this election! He's stealing it!"

Then, just as suddenly as he arrived, the man wandered off again.

This is just one manifestation of the nightmare scenario many had feared, whereby a tight election could sow further divisions in an already deeply split nation.

Incumbent president Donald Trump claimed victory on Wednesday, even though millions of votes were left to be counted, adding that it would be a 'fraud' and an 'embarrassment' if he didn't win.

Speaking at the White House, the POTUS said: "We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything.

"This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country.

"We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election."

He went on to demand that 'all voting be stopped', despite the fact there is no evidence that votes were being made after the polls closed.

Since then, some Trump supporters have been trying to stop votes from being counted.

Protestors tried to storm a poll centre in Detroit, while chanting 'stop the count!'.

Meanwhile, pro-Democrat protesters held up banners that insisted every vote should be counted.

The Detroit Free Press reported that outrage ensued after poll watchers were not allowed to re-enter as the room was over capacity.

Republican supporters claimed that being denied access meant the people inside were disproportionately Democratic, but others said Democrats had been kept out as well.

Biden ultimately won Michigan and believes he is on track to win the election.

He said: "After a long night of counting, it's clear that we're winning enough states to reach 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

"I'm not here to declare that we've won. But I am here to report, when the counting is finished, we believe we will be the winners.

"But we have had hard campaigns before. We have faced hard times before. So, once this election is finalised and behind us, it will be time for us to do what we've always done as Americans.

"To put the harsh rhetoric of the campaign behind us. To lower the temperature. To see each other again. To listen to each other again. To hear each other again. To respect and care for one another again.

"To unite. To heal. To come together as a nation."

However, before this healing can start, there is likely to be a lot of litigation to get out of the way first.
