A man who jumped from a moving flight leaving LAX airport has told authorities that it was all down to taking lots of crystal meth.

Yep, that checks out.

The Washington Post reports that Mexican Luis Antonio Victoria Dominguez faces a maximum 20-year prison sentence for on a charge of interfering with the flight crew. The charge has come from the US attorney's office in the Central District of California, which filed a complaint detailing the incident last Sunday (27 June).

However, at least we can commend Victoria Dominguez for his honesty.

When police asked the 33-year-old from La Paz why he did all of this, he explained that he had been in a hotel in Los Angeles smoking meth for days.

When he came down from the drug, he couldn't handle it. While on the plane, he said that he could hear all the voices of the people on board and it sent him into a panic.

Court documents seen by The Post state that Dominguez started his crystal meth intake on a Tuesday, three days before his eventual aborted flight.

He arrived at LAX that day from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and wanted to get to Salt Lake City but had no connecting flight.

Instead, he made his way to a hotel in Los Angeles and drank several beers, before using $20 to buy 'a lot' of crystal methamphetamine, according to his own recounting of events to the FBI.

The next day he then moved to another hotel and, after smoking plenty of the meth, he decided he wanted to fly to Utah rather than take a bus.

What he should've done at that point was stop smoking crystal meth, but he carried on and on Thursday evening he missed his flight and ended up walking the streets of Los Angeles.

On the Friday, after returning to the airport, he missed his flight again. He finally got himself onto a rescheduled flight, which he boarded before its 6.30pm scheduled departure.

Then the comedown kicked in. According to The Post, the documents state that when Victoria Dominguez took his seat, he 'was coming down from all the drugs he had used the last couple of days' and 'immediately started to doze off'.

He then apparently heard several passengers behind him 'laughing and talking about the flight going to a different city than Salt Lake City'.

Panicking, he unbuckled his seat belt and went to the front of the plane, getting past a flight attendant and banging on the cockpit doors.

The pilots opted for safety, so instead, Victoria Dominguez pushed past the flight attendant and headed towards the emergency door.

He then allegedly opened the door, partially deploying the emergency slide.

The documents then explain that Victoria Dominguez 'was familiar with how to open those doors because in the past he had sat in the emergency exit row and moved the handles up and down'.

The plane was rolling by this point but came to a halt as Victoria Dominguez broke free of a fellow passenger who was attempting to restrain him, before falling to the ground and breaking his leg.

He was arrested trying to crawl away from the plane.

The lesson here is obvious really. Don't smoke meth.
