A man who popped to the pub ended up getting lost in the Thai jungle for four days. You can see a video of the unfortunate bloke here:

That is some wrong turn, eh?

Dutch expat Franciscus Johannes van Rossum, 78, had drunk five bottles of beer before he hopped on his motorbike and attempted to get back to his home in Phetchaburi province on 31 August.

His wife Rachot Chanwijit, 61, became concerned for her husband when he did not return home that night, so she headed to the bar he'd been drinking out.

However, the bar owner informed her that Franciscus had left earlier that evening.

Meanwhile, poor Franciscus made two calls to his wife - one on 1 September and one on 2 September - saying he was lost in the Khong Ta Bang forest and a storm had hit.

Rachot was able to alert the authorities who went out to search for him.

Fortunately, locals had spotted his motorbike and managed to find him nearby on 3 September.

Franciscus was covered in mosquito bites and forced to sleep in a puddle due to the storms.

A very relieved Franciscus said: "I thought I was going to die.

"My phone battery was dead, my motorcycle had run out of gas and it was raining. There was nothing to eat.

"I was relieved when I heard the local people. They saved my life. I'm so happy to be safe and see my wife again.

"I only went out for a beer. I took a wrong turn and it started raining, that's when it all went wrong."

Rachot said she had been trying to get in touch with her husband after he failed to come home from the pub.

She said: "I was trying to call him on the night he was last seen but he did not answer so I went to the bar. He was not there.

"I received a call from him on September 1 early in the morning saying he rode into the forest but he did not know the exact coordinates where he was."

She said her husband's signal then went due to the storm.

Rachot added: "He called me again the next day saying his phone battery was about to die and the motorcycle's oil had run out.

"He said he was exhausted and needed help so I called the police."

Bar owner Bunteam Kiawgaew, who last saw the man, said: "Franciscus came to drink five bottles of beer from 2pm to 5pm and then left. I don't know where he was planning to go after drinking."

Neither did he by the sounds of things.

Thankfully all's well that ends well, and other than being tired and a bit dehydrated, Franciscus is none the worse for his little adventure.
