A mass brawl has broken out at Stormzy's #Merky Festival in Ibiza amid reports on social media that the event has been dogged by violence.

Footage shows crowds scrambling to get clear from the fight, as festival-goers and security staff rain punches and kicks down on each other at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel yesterday (Tuesday).

Violence and thuggery has plagued the grime artist's two-day festival, according to numerous accounts on Twitter.

One person said: "Absolute state of c**** pouring out Ibiza rocks for Stormzy & that #MerkyFestival. Had to slam the brakes on about five times. Every time... socks flip flops towel round the neck squaring up to the car."

Another said: "You wonder why grime music has a bad name yet all of your fans stampede security, assault female hotel staff and steal their belongings. Disgusting behaviour #merkyfestival @stormzy"

The brawl comes just days after Stormzy used his headline slot at Glastonbury to rally against youth violence in the UK, taking to the stage in a stab-proof emblazoned with a Union Jack - designed by Banksy no less.

The 25-year-old rapper made history at Worthy Farm, becoming the first black British solo artist to headline the festival.

Prior to taking to the stage on Friday, the grime artist shared a series of tweets, showing that he was clearly aware of the significance of his headline slot.

He said: "I am the first black British artist to headline Glastonbury. At 25-years-old I am the second youngest solo act to ever headline Glastonbury, the youngest being a 24-year-old David Bowie in 1971. I'm overwhelmed with emotions, this is the most surreal feeling I've ever experienced.

"I feel my entire life has led to this moment. Can't explain or fathom what this all is but I am 100% sure this is all God and his favour. Giving him all the glory.

"Thank you to Emily & Mike Eavis for believing in me I can't wait to see you and hug you both. Thank you so much."

In the aftermath of the festival, Stormzy shared a heartwarming text from his mum, in which she quite rightly said he had made her 'a very proud mum'... Safe to say there will be plenty of mums out there who are far from proud after seeing the fighting that has unfolded at #Merky Festival.
