Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, will walk her daughter down the aisle as she marries Prince Harry, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: "Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are very much looking forward to welcoming Ms Markle's parents to Windsor for the wedding.

"Mr Thomas Markle and Ms Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry's family, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to spend time with them before the big day.

"Both of the bride's parents will have important roles in the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, Ms Ragland will travel with Ms Markle by car to Windsor Castle.

"Mr Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's chapel. Ms Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion."

According to the Guardian, her parents are scheduled to fly into Britain the week of the royal wedding.

Palace officials have not yet spoken publicly about Meghan's other relatives, including half brother, Thomas Markle Jr, who recently hit headlines for reportedly sending Prince Harry a letter telling him to call the wedding off.

In his letter - addressed directly to the 33-year-old Harry - he called the former actress and star of Suits a 'jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you the royal family heritage'.

The letter, which was shared with In Touch magazine, also said: "As more time passes to your royal wedding, it became very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history.

"Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you.

"I'm confused why you don't see the real Meghan that the whole world now sees.

"Meghan's attempt to act the part of a princess like a below C average Hollywood actress is getting old."

Over the course of the handwritten letter, the 51-year-old from Oregon, USA, claimed that his father financially jeopardised himself to fund Meghan's dream of becoming an actress, and that not only is he still struggling to this day, he is also not invited to the wedding.

However, with the news that their father would be walking Meghan down the aisle on her big day, it turns out Thomas Markle Sr did get an invite, after all.
