A man has been charged after driving down the road for 'three kilometres' while another man clung onto his bullbar.

Police in Auburn, Australia, have said the incident began after two cars were involved in a collision on Christmas Day.

Following the crash, one of the motorists walked towards the other's car and grabbed onto the bullbar before the man drove away, cops have said.

The man driving the Toyota Land Cruiser allegedly drove for three kilometres with the 37-year-old bloke clinging on to the front. He later managed to jump off and the Land Cruiser drove off.

The incident, which was caught on film, was reported to police.

According to 7 News, the man in the Land Cruiser had refused to hand over his details following the crash, prompting the other fella to grab a hold of his bullbar.

Authorities later confirmed a 45-year-old man had been arrested and charged with causing bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of a motor vehicle, negligent driving, driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and for not giving his particulars to the driver, Daily Mail Australia reports.

Police told the Sydney Morning Herald: "The man was carried an estimated three kilometres clinging to the bullbar before jumping off when the utility slowed down in Margaret Street, Greenacre."

In the clip, filmed by a shocked family, a man can be heard saying: "Call the police. Call the cops. What is he doing?"

While a female says: "He's speeding now. He's speeding. Call the cops."

They eventually make a call to the police and report the incident - speaking to the police call handler, the woman says: "He's still hanging off the front." as the car follows the along behind.

Speaking to 7 News, eyewitness Ace Syed could hardly believe what he'd seen, saying he was first alerted to the incident when he heard a scream. He watched on as the man eventually got down when the car slowed down, adding that he was impressed the man held on for so long.

Fortunately, the man wasn't left with any serious injuries following the incident.

After being taken to the police station and charged, the 45-year-old man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in court on 9 January.
