Chloe Fletcher, from Hartlepool, paid £7 ($9.70) for the 'laughable rip-off' version of one of the most popular meals to have on a night out.

The 23-year-old had been partying at house music festival BeachJam in Redcar, Yorkshire, last Saturday and fancied herself a midnight scran after hours of dancing.

The mum-of-two was shocked to discover that the food on offer was 'ridiculously expensive' and settled on having cheesy chips that happened to be the 'cheapest thing' at £7.

However, the 23-year-old was horrified to be handed the 'poor quality' chips that included a few slabs of orange American cheese 'slapped on top'.

She said: "It was so bad. They were the worst cheesy chips I'd ever seen in my life.

"They were £7. They were very overpriced and poor quality.

"They didn't even attempt to make it look nice. They literally just slapped [the cheese] on the top."

Chloe was attending her first music event since the start of the pandemic and looking forward to seeing headliner, Joel Corry.

But when she grew hungry, she was shocked that the caterers 'dared' to dish out the disappointing cheesy snack.

Raging Chloe then posted the food fail online, where other social media users branded it 'f****** grim'.

Since posting the image online, Chloe's post has since been shared more than 850 times by outraged social media users.

Chloe said: "Hundreds of people a day have shared it. I didn't think it'd go so viral. I was just showing friends and family for a laugh."

One user said: "Jesus they look so f***ing grim, should have asked for a refund. Chips look mank with a floppy bit of processed cheese chucked on for good measure. Yuck."

Whilst a second added: "Absolute b*ds."

A third wrote: "Fuming."

Finally a fourth concluded: "That [is] far from okay."

A BeachJam spokesperson said: "If any attendees were unhappy at any point with the quality of food provided by one of the independent suppliers on site, we would have hoped that they would have taken up their complaint with that particular vendor at the time of their purchase to either replace the product or to request a refund.

"Pricing is set independently by each vendor and clearly advertised prior to purchase. Drinks pricing is set in line with other regional events around the UK."
