A mother who lost her son in an unprovoked attack at Parklife Festival three years ago has made a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Robert Hart died days after he was punched unconscious on 7 June 2014, following an argument with a festivalgoer who was repeatedly striking his girlfriend with an inflatable doll.

An inquest in 2015 concluded the 26-year-old former Liverpool University student was unlawfully killed and died of a head injury following an assault.

Elaine Hart told LADbible that she and her family would only be able to find closure once the attacker had been brought to justice.

She said: "Somebody somewhere knows who this attacker is and we're appealing to anybody out there with information who has a conscience to come forward.

"The man, who punched Robert so severely he fell with his arms down by his side, did not even stop to see what he had done, he just walked away.

"The attacker went somewhere that night and he got up the following morning - people talk, so somebody knows who the man who killed Robert is, whether it's a colleague or a relative or a friend."

Elaine described her son as a 'gentleman' who was 'kind, caring, helpful and non-aggressive'.

The appeal has been made just as the festival takes place once more in Manchester's Heaton Park this weekend. Elaine said that it had been an especially difficult time for the family.

"Robert should be here enjoying himself, he shouldn't be lying in a grave where he is right now," she said.

"It's been a heartbreaking and emotional week coming up to the festival being held.

"We have lit a candle and cried, and continued to ask why.

"We can't get on with our lives, there is no closure and there is no justice for Robert because the man hasn't been found."
