Popular musical quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks is getting a second life on Sky after being axed by the BBC in 2015.

The show is returning this autumn and actor Noel Fielding is back as one of the team captains.

Sky made the announcement on Twitter, which read: "In light of the many, many years of Twitter petitions, management has decided it's probably a good idea to bring back #NeverMindTheBuzzcocks."

With the show originally airing on BBC Two from 1996 to 2015, Sky is set to take it over and bring a new twist.

Sky also revealed a new host, team captain and regular guest for the show.

Teaming up with Noel is presenter Greg Davies, from The Inbetweeners, and This Country star Daisy May Cooper. Comedian Jamali Maddix is set to appear as a regular guest.

Twitter seemed to be delighted with the news and some are looking forward to what comes next.

One user simply said: "THANK YOU <3"

While another user was more cautious and said: "Hope it's not toned down or too pc."

A third user said: "I'll always miss Amstell, but this sounds like a great line up!!"

The user was of course referring to Simon Amstell who took over as host of the show from 2006 to 2009.

The original host was Mark Lamarr, who was in charge of the show for nine years spanning from 1996 to 2005.

New host Greg Davies is a fan of the show and can't wait to get started.

He said: "I have always loved Never Mind The Buzzcocks and am thrilled to be the new host on Sky. We have brilliant comedic talent on the team and plenty of exciting musical guests will be joining us."

Director of Sky Arts and Entertainment for Sky, Phil Edgar-Jones, said: "Buzzcocks is one of those truly iconic shows and to be bringing it back with Greg Davies at the helm, alongside Daisy May Cooper, Noel Fielding and Jamali Maddix is a buzz and a treat for lovers of tuneless humming everywhere."

Greg Davies is the current host of Channel 4's Taskmaster. He is also set to star in new BBC One comedy The Cleaner and Sky One's new show Safe Space, which is a comedy drama about a psychotherapist.
