Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans, time to get excited because the final season trailer has dropped and the new series premiers on August 12. Watch the trailer below:

The show, which stars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews and Joe Lo Truglio - among others - will come to an end this time around.

That ending was confirmed by the show's co-creator Dan Goor earlier this year.

On Twitter, Goor wrote: "I'm so thankful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve. I feel very lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons."

Speaking exclusively to LADbible, Lo Truglio - who plays Charles Boyle - explained how the series plans to tackle some big issues facing society right now, including the Black Lives Matter movement.

He said: "We've dipped out toe in the water with more serious issues - Terry's racial profiling, Rosa's bisexuality, sexism - so it made it easier for us to have that conversation about Black Lives Matter.

"We've shown that we can do comedy, but we can also tackle those big social issues too."

Last year, Terry Crews also confirmed that every episode from the forthcoming eighth series had to be rewritten in light of the BLM movement, which came to prominence after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020.

Crews explained: "We've had a lot of sombre talks about it and deep conversations,

"And we hope through this, we're going to make something that will be truly ground-breaking this year."

The final season will consist of 10 episodes and will mark the end of a slightly unusual path for the show.

It was briefly cancelled by Fox after season five, before a fervent fan campaign showed its true popularity, leading NBC to take up the reins from then on.

It was supposed to return last year, but we can all probably guess why that was put back.

Either way, they have a decent run up to the final series, let's just hope that they can stick the landing.Featured Image Credit: NBC
