NHS staff in England, once they register on Uber with their work email address, can claim two £10 codes to use during times public transport is limited - such as on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, when committed staff will find it difficult to get into work.
While most of the UK is sat in familial bliss, unwrapping presents and eating turkey, around 350,000 members of NHS staff head into work to do invaluable jobs - of the NHS workers there are said to be approximately 97,000 nurses, 53,000 nursing assistants, 176,000 care workers, 12,000 ambulance drivers and 12,000 midwives.
Matt Hancock, Health Secretary said: "Everyone wants to be home with their families for Christmas Day but so many of our selfless NHS staff give up their holidays to care for those who need it most.

"It's great that Uber have agreed to step in and offer a free ride home this Christmas and I hope this makes life a little easier for our dedicated NHS workers."
Uber is offering these rides to NHS England staff so that everyone who has to work over the festive period will be able to spend less of their valuable time travelling to and from work and more time at home with family and friends.
Jamie Heywood, Uber's General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe said: "NHS staff will have enough to worry about this Christmas, so we'd like to at least try to take care of their travel.

"During a time when it isn't always easy to get from A to B, we hope that this offer will help them get home to their families sooner."
Members of the NHS England staff can claim their two £10 Uber vouchers for a free Uber trip by heading to www.uber.com/nhs and entering their official NHS email address by 9am, Monday 24 December. The codes can be redeemed between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
