North Korea Admits Nation's Founder Kim Il Sung Did Not Have The Ability To Teleport

The late leader ruled between 1948 and 1994 and has been at the centre of myths including one that claimed he had the ability to 'shrink the earth' to travel in an instant. Which, as it turns out, was not among his skills.

North Korea's official media has been known for making claims about the country's leaders and treats them like gods - even dubbing Kim II Sung the 'eternal president'.

The article which was titled 'The Secret To Teleportation' appeared in the newspaper Rodong Sinmun, which is run by the ruling party.

It amended the 1940s legend which claimed that Kim II Sung had confounded Japanese occupiers with a technique called 'chukjibeop' or 'folding space'.

Radio Free Asia explained that 'chukjibeop' is like teleporting fighters in Kung Fu movies - the ability to quickly move towards the blind spot of an enemy at a speed so fast that the attacker seems to temporarily disappear.

Now the newspaper has declared that 'people can't disappear and reappear by folding space'... no s***, Sherlock.

South Korea's Unification Ministry said it was the first known occasion of a Kim family myth being officially debunked in this way.

"We need to pay attention to the current leader's denial of the mythification of his predecessors," a ministry official said.

In North Korea, Kim Jong Un, his father Kim Jong Il and his grandfather Kim Il Sung enjoy god-like status which has been built up over the years.

Some of the myths included Kim Jong Un being able to drive at age three, and Kim Jong Il shooting a 38 under par round of golf with five holes-in-one in his first attempt at the sport.

One 'tale' we're still not sure about is that the current North Korean leader went to the Singapore summit with his own toilet... in his Mercedes.

"There are multiple vehicles within the convoy so that people cannot tell which one he is in, and there is a separate car that acts as his restroom."
