Old Keanu Reeves Film Set In 2021 Had Several Predictions For What Would Happen This Year

Keanu Reeves starred in a 1995 flick that was set in 2021 and some of the predictions were absolutely spot on.

Amazon Prime Video has revealed a list of all the predictions that were made in Keanu Reeves's 1995 movie Johnny Mnemonic, which was set in 2021. Watch below:

Although Reeves is largely known for his blockbuster hits such as The Matrix or John Wick, it seems as if the 57-year-old appeared in a hidden gem that was actually set in 2021.

The synopsis reads: "Johnny is a data courier who literally carries data packages inside his head for a fee.

"This time he carries a package that is too large to hold for long and he must race against time to deliver it."

The accurate predictions made were pretty spot on: Face tattoos, airport x-ray machines for passports, masked protests and virtual church services.

As impressively accurate as some of the predictions were, that sadly wasn't the case for all.

Some of the inaccurate ones, incredibly, consisted of: Dolphin computers, hard drive implants, uploading data directly to the brain, rock opera club music, laser whips and virtual reality internet interfaces.

Good try Keanu, but it's hard to look past The Simpsons where the yellow cartoon writers are eerily accurate with predictions.

From Kamala Harris' inauguration outfit to Lady Gaga's Super Bowl show, and through to Donald Trump even becoming president in the first place, the famous cartoon has called the show correctly countless times.

So, how on earth are they so prescient?

Speaking in a number of interviews compiled for YouTube channel Brut, the creators of the show offered up their takes on the matter.

Matt Groening said: "We take the most unlikely, ridiculous, stupid, impossible, never-will-happen joke, and then it turns out that our imaginations aren't that imaginative."

Writer and producer Al Jean then added: " I think that if you have a bunch of people who are smart, who are trying to predict the future if you throw enough darts, enough darts hit the dartboard.

"And, most of the things, I can just say - Trump actually, for example - was talking about running for president in 1999."

"He wasn't the most ridiculous celebrity to forecast as a president, and we've had a few things like that.

"Like, Lady Gaga, people said 'oh you predicted her Super Bowl show' - well, that's because we copied her show for our show and then she did that show.

"So, it's sort of like, she stole our show that stole her show, you know, that's how it happens.

Jean's fellow writer and producer Matt Selman explained: "I guess if you just... every joke you make is 'what's the worst thing possible that could happen' eventually one of those things is going to come true, and it did.
