A number of parents have warned others about the LOL Surprise Glamper Van after claiming their kids sustained injuries while playing with the toy.

The plastic van was one of this year's most popular Christmas toys, but some parents who were able to get their hands on one for the big day have since shared stories about their kids getting their fingers trapped in a hole at the bottom of the van.

The hole at the bottom is used as a button to open the toy up, but numerous parents have said their kid's finger got stuck - in one instance, it was so bad emergency services had to be called, other parents said they had to dismantle the toy to free their child.

Mum Camille Katherine, from Canada, shared photos of her little girl's thumb alongside a warning on Facebook and has since urged LOL Surprise to recall the toy.

She wrote: "This weekend, while using the button that she was supposed to push to open up her LOL Glamper, my daughter got her thumb stuck and was unable to remove it.

"We tried for 20 minutes without luck and had to call our local EMS who were able to break the toy off from her.

"Turns out there are many cases online describing this. We have contacted the company to warn them of the risk and really think it should be recalled."

She also tagged the company in the post, adding: "You should redesign and recall this product so other kids don't get hurt."

A second mum, Chanie Zarchi Wolf, also took to Facebook to call on LOL Surprise to consider pulling the toys from sale.

She wrote: "Last week we bought an LOL Glamper for our daughter for her sixth birthday.

"She got her finger stuck and we tried for over an hour to release it. We tried manoeuvring it and then realised it was a double layer and whenever we tried to move the top layer she would scream.

"We couldn't see what was happening with her finger inside."

The family also called emergency services and the toy was finally removed, with no serious damage done to the little girl's finger.

Isaac Larian, CEO and Founder of MGA Entertainment which makes the toy, said: "I am extremely upset to hear about our fans' negative experience with the L.O.L. Surprise! Glamper.

"Safety is a top priority when we develop our products, which must pass third-party toy testing and all applicable safety requirements before they're shipped to retailers. I take any concerns where injury is involved very seriously.

"There is a caution sticker on the glamper, and although the product was fully compliant as originally sold, in an abundance of care we have now re-designed the button mechanism to prevent any possibility of finger capture. If any of our fans have concerns regarding their purchased Glamper, please contact our Customer Services team immediately at [email protected]or call 01702 208177."
