People in New South Wales will be allowed to have up to 20 people come to their home from Saturday (June 13).

Premier Gladys Berejiklian made the announcement this morning (June 11), saying that promising coronavirus figures mean it's now safer for more people to gather together.

But she's warned people not to become complacent, adding: "We cannot forget the virus is still amongst us.

"The virus is deadly, it's contagious and while these restrictions are being eased let's be vigilant as well.

"We have done well in NSW not because of any government or body making decisions, we have done well because the community, as frustrating as it has been, because the community has come together, worked hard and I want that to continue."

Previously, only five people were allowed over at any given time, in addition to the people who already live there.

That means that house parties, BBQs, birthday events and everything else will be allowed to be a little bigger in just two days' time.
