Piers Morgan Says He'd Struggle Not To Punch Senator Fraser Anning

“What baffles me is how somebody with that mentality was able to get elected."

Senator Fraser Anning has had a rough few weeks after essentially blaming New Zealand Muslims for a terrorist attack that claimed 50 lives and having a teenager crack an egg over his head during a live press conference.

But now he's been insulted by Piers Morgan.

The British TV host and commentator told Channel 9's Today Show that he'd find it difficult not to attack the politician if he crossed him in the street.

"I think I would struggle not to punch him in the face, which I know is something that he likes to do to young teenagers when they confront him about his disgusting racism," Morgan said.

"What he did within hours of that attack, in effectively telling Muslims, 50 of whom had just been slaughtered, innocent Muslims attending prayer. What he did in basically blaming Muslims for what happened to them that day was a monstrosity.

"What baffles me is how somebody with that mentality was able to get elected.

"So if he was sitting here, I'd curb the urge to punch him, and I would be saying 'what kind of human being, with 50 innocent people gunned down in their place of worship, thinks that the smart thing to do is to get on to Twitter and release a statement blaming them for what happened to themselves?' I just thought it was disgusting."

But that wasn't the only topic on the mind of Mr Piers Morgan.

He also unleashed on the shocking claims being levelled by Al Jazeera, who secretly filmed Pauline Hanson and One Nation officials saying some pretty outrageous things.

Ms Hanson was filmed suggesting the 1996 Port Arthur massacre was an inside job to change Australia's gun laws. The One Nation leader has since said that she firmly believes gunman Martin Bryant was the only one responsible.

One Nation's Queensland leader Steve Dickson was also filmed having a meeting with members of the NRA, who told them how they spin mass shootings in their favour.

Piers Morgan said: "I think it's an absolute disgrace, and I'm glad to see the furore that's erupted as part of this very good investigation which has exposed right-wing politicians in Australia as doing these dirty deals, or trying to, with what they thought was the National Rifle Association."

He called the One Nation members' actions 'disgraceful' and should have no place in Australian politics. Let's hope Piers and Fraser don't find themselves in the same room.
