The family of Brian Laundrie - the boyfriend of missing 'van life' vlogger Gabby Petito - have been removed from their home after police declared it a 'crime scene'.

A body was discovered on Sunday (19 September) by the FBI, and while it has not been identified with absolute certainty, the investigators have informed Ms Petito's mother and offered condolences to her.

The police established a cordon around the home in the Florida town of North Port on Monday morning, and FBI agents arrived with a warrant to search the house, allegedly telling the family 'you're in a crime scene'.

A short statement by the Bureau confirmed it is 'executing a court-authorized search warrant today at the Laundrie residence in North Port, FL relevant to the Gabrielle 'Gabby' Petito investigation'.

The statement continued: "No further details can be provided since this is an active and ongoing investigation."

Mr Laundrie - a 'person of interest' in the case - has also been missing since last week, when he was believed to have fled to a local nature reserve.

However, North Port Police confirmed today that there are no plans to carry out an extensive search of the Carlton Reserve because they have 'exhausted all avenues' there, according to Fox News.

Spokesperson Josh Taylor said: "At this time, we currently believe we have exhausted all avenues in searching of the grounds there.

"Law enforcement agencies continue to search for Brian Laundrie."

Mr Laundrie returned with the couple's van to his parent's house back on 1 September, but did not co-operate with the police in their investigation.

He has himself been missing since leaving his parent's house six days ago.

A family lawyer told ABC7 that he told them he was off to the Carlton Reserve for a hike, but never came back to the home he and Ms Petito shared together.

His family then allegedly went looking for him, and found his vehicle parked up at the reserve.

Ms Petito has not been seen alive since 24 August, however, the body was found not far from where Petito and Laundrie's van was filmed by two passers-by on 27 August.
