'Finders keepers' is a saying many of us abide by when it comes to, say, finding a crumpled tenner on the floor. However, for one woman who chose to follow this rule, she's now become the centre of a major police investigation.

Cops over in Florida (where else?) are on the hunt for a woman who they suspect stole bricks of marijuana that washed up on Flagler Beach on Thursday.

According to The Daily Mail, the unidentified blonde woman was seen in pictures wearing a yellow bikini and diving into a large block of weed with her arm after it made its way to the shore earlier this week.

Although only half of her face is visible in the pic, the local police force's jobs are made easier by the fact that she has a number of unique tattoos on her back.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office have since sent out an 'Attempt To Identify' poster with a picture of the woman on it in a bid to pinpoint their suspect.

Earlier in the week on Wednesday, separate bundles of the drug were discovered on the same beach and more were found in the nearby Volusia and St John's counties too. Officials said the Sheriff's Office recovered around 100 pounds of marijuana washed up on Flagler Beach on Wednesday alone.

But when it came to these batches, the finders were not keepers and witnesses were open about reporting the discoveries.

This was the case for Robert Kelley, 61, who was detained for reportedly jacking 11 pounds of weed at Jungle Hut Road Park, about 10 miles down the coast from Flagler Beach.

Flagler County Sheriff, Rick Staly, said: "Witnesses called us and gave us a description of the person (who) put it in his backpack and was fleeing the area."

"This is another great example of 'See something, say something'," Staly said to News4Jax. "This guy tried to take advantage of a situation and it completely backfired on him. Now, thanks to the joint effort of our citizens' watchful eyes and good police work, these narcotics are off the streets."

Now the office is seeking similar help from local witnesses to come forward and help identify the woman in the picture above.

Staly concluded: "To anyone thinking they can take advantage of marijuana washing up on shore, I have a warning for you. Is it worth a trip to the Green Roof Inn charged with a felony just for some 'free' weed?"
