A pregnant salon owner is refusing to cut the hair of anyone who's had the coronavirus vaccination, urging any customers who have had their jab to simply 'cancel your appointment'.

The bizarre update appeared on the social media pages of Sweeney Todd Barber's Shop in Bunbury, a city in Western Australia.

It was accompanied by an image of the pregnant owner posing in the mirror, as she explained that she made the decision with a 'heavy heart', but had to do 'what's best' for her and her expanding family.

According to Perth Now, the owner is a woman called Abi Lacock, who began her post by saying 'SURPRISE'.

She continued: "For those clients I have still been seeing, I sincerely ask that if you have had the Covid vaccine could you please cancel your appointment as I am no longer comfortable taking on Covid vaccinated people as I have to do what's best for the health of myself and my family!

"I thank everyone for their continued support and with a heavy heart have had to make this decision."

The post has been met with a mixed reaction on her business' various social media pages, including on Facebook, where it has attracted more than 1,000 comments.

Some praised Lacock's 'amazing' actions, wishing her 'all the best' with her baby and saying they backed her viewpoint.

One said: "Congratulations and thanks for standing up against this vaccine. Definitely have my support."

However, many others were left feeling 'confused' by Lacock's stance, with someone referring to it as 'the dumbest thing' they'd ever seen.

Another advised: "I think you might want to do a little more research!"

A third added: "The amount of ignorance and stupidity you are exhibiting is breathtaking, feel sorry for your eventual family."

Another person pointed out: "I hope your family know how to deliver this baby then as all the nurses are vaccinated. What are you going to do??"

Western Australia's health minister Roger Cook has also shut down the type of comments put forward by Lacock, saying they were 'wrong on so many levels'.

Encouraging people to follow the science, he said: "We want people to back the science, we want people to do what's right for the Western Australian community.

"Get yourself vaccinated, make sure that you can protect yourself, your family and the community.

"These ridiculous assertions and people who take this extraordinary stance are a distraction for the community.

"They're also dangerous in terms of their attitudes."
