Countdown's Rachel Riley claims that she was groped backstage at work by a member of the audience.

The 35-year-old presenter says she was introduced to the perpetrator by his wife.

She then got the couple banned from the audience after reporting the man.

Rachel told The Sun: "This married couple came up to me and the lady said 'oh my husband really likes watching you, do you mind if we just...' and he squeezed my arse.

"I didn't know what to do with myself.

"I was a bit shocked and stood back and they didn't get invited back to the audience.

"You get the odd arse grabber."

Riley also said she had to go and buy new clothes for the show after Channel 4 bosses 'made her dress like a mother'.

Speaking to Channel 4 show Complaints Welcome, she explained: "I had to buy some new clothes at one stage.

"I just didn't know what to wear and they were trying to dress me more like my mother at that stage, everything had to be below the knee."

The maths whiz is largely known for her Countdown role after she replaced Carol Vorderman in 2008.

Riley also makes appearances on the late night 8 Out Of Ten Cats version of Countdown along with comedian Jimmy Carr, 49.

However, a new maths expert is set to temporarily replace Riley, who is due to have a baby.

She took to Twitter to announce Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon as her replacement.

Riley tweeted: "Well that's it from me, I've officially finished filming to pop a baby out!

"You're stuck with me on screen till December when the totally amazing @aimafidon will be keeping the numbers in line till I'm back next year!

"Hope you have loads of fun Anne-Marie, best of luck lovely!"

Dr Imafidon previously replaced Riley as host of the maths round in an episode aired as part of Channel 4's Black to Front day on 10 September.

She was joined by presenter Sir Trevor McDonald with author Lemn Sissay and journalist Marverine Cole in dictionary corner.
