US Covid-19 Response Coordinator Has Stunned Reaction To Trump Suggesting Disinfectant Could Cure Coronavirus

It like she knows...

US President Donald Trump suggested at a press briefing yesterday (23 April) that injecting disinfectant can help treat coronavirus:

This is the reaction of Dr Deborah Birx, who is leading the US' fight against the coronavirus, to his bizarre claims:

Dr Birx, who is heading the President's Covid-19 task force, sat silently staring and blinking (Morse code for 'help me' maybe?) towards Trump before appearing to sigh and turn away.

The reaction was in response to the dangerous remarks that injecting disinfectant could cure coronavirus.

The suggestion came during a daily news update that scientists should investigate whether injecting the household cleaner could help.

The president then said in front of reporters: "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that?

"By injection inside or almost a cleaning. As you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So that you're going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds interesting to me."

Dr Birx sat in on the daily update.

It's definitely worth noting that injecting disinfectant into your body would be a terrible idea and one that has been made clear should not be carried out 'under no circumstances'.

Mr Trump also relayed other techniques that scientists are reportedly looking into that could help, such as using UV radiation.

"Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light?" he said. "And I think you said, that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it.

"And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're going to test that too. Sounds interesting."

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "I can't believe Donald Trump just suggested we try INJECTING DISINFECTANT and/or UV light into the body as a coronavirus treatment?? how is this real."

Another added: "If you're wondering why @realDonaldTrump suggested injecting people with disinfectant to cure #COVID19 (or shining lights into their bodies) - it's because he's stupid. Mystery solved. Remember he also wanted to stop a hurricane by nuking it. Dumb as a brick. Comically stupid."
