Metropolitan police are responding to reports that a vehicle has hit pedestrians on London Bridge.

It's understood there have been several people wounded in the incident. A witness has told BBC 5 Live that a white van mounted the curb. Another person has told the Telegraph: "We were in London Bridge station. An announcement came on which said that due to an emergency the station was closing and to leave via the nearest exit.

"There was a woman and her husband crying. They said a van had mowed people down on London Bridge and were stabbing and shooting people. They were both very upset."

BBC reporter Holly Jones was on the bridge when the incident unfolded: "He swerved right round me and then hit about five or six people. He hit about two people in front of me and then three behind."

A witness has told Sky News: "I just was walking out of London Bridge station, there were police officers in the street, some of them were coming by car, other ones were running."

Transport for London says the bridge has been closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident. Police are also dealing with an incident at Borough Markets with armed officers at both scenes.

The bomb squad has reportedly arrived on the scene at London Bridge, while those injured in the incident are treated by paramedics.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The prime minister is in contact with officials and is being regularly updated on the incident at London Bridge."

More to come.
