Richard Madeley has been taken to hospital while on I'm a Celebrity.

Medics attended Gwrych Castle, where the ITV show is filmed after the TV presenter fell ill.

An ITV spokesperson told LADbible: "Richard was unwell in the early hours and was immediately seen by our on-site medical team.

"He's since been taken to hospital as a precaution, the health and safety of our campmates is our priority."

A source told the Sun: "It was horrifying - campers were really upset and concerned, all of the crew and medics rushed to set to help him.

"It was a real scare for everyone involved."

The 65-year-old was taken to hospital but is now believed to be on the mend, according to sources.

The worrying incident has come a day after he was seen going the show's Kitchen Nightmares trial.

Prior to entering the competition, Richard seemed very keen to take part.

He said: "I really hope I do get voted for the Trials.

"The thing about this programme is you mustn't go in to it if you take yourself remotely seriously.

"I don't and I am thoroughly looking forward to being covered in god knows what!

"You have to be prepared for people to laugh and I see this as a bloody great romp of fun!"

For those unaware, Richard is known for presenting Good Morning Britain, This Morning and chat show Richard & Judy.

His solo projects include the ITV series Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway and standing in on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show for BBC Radio 2.

From 2012 to 2017, he was the main relief presenter of Channel 5's The Wright Stuff.

Along with Madeley, this year's celebrity line-up features Frankie Bridge, broadcaster and ex-BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin, Olympic Gold Medallist Matty Lee, Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy, choreographer Dame Arlene Phillips, music producer Naughty Boy, Paralympic Gold Medallist Kadeena Cox, football legend David Ginola and Emmerdale star Danny Miller.

The next episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is due to air at 9pm on ITV tonight.
