Rick And Morty Fans Left Shocked After 'Traumatic' Episode

Some fans of the hit TV show felt it had finally gone too far

Warning: This article contains spoilers for season five episode four of Rick and Morty

Fans of Rick and Morty have tweeted to express their confusion with the latest episode. You can watch a trailer for the episode below - which teases the out-there premise:

The new episode premiered on 11 July in the US and 12 July in the UK and was titled 'Rickdependance Spray'.

A synopsis reads: "A failed experiment by Rick creates monsters that threaten the entire country as well as himself."

This does little to prepare anyone for the actual content of the episode. The plot mainly involved Morty using a breeding mount for purposes other than extracting semen from horses (I'm sure you can guess what).

This inadvertently creates an army of 'space sperm', which Rick and Morty must do battle with.

Users were quick to comment on the episode - which was pretty extreme even by Rick and Morty standards. Some viewers thought it went too far.

One user said: "So uh who's gonna up to their actions and claim responsibility for Episode 4 of Rick and Morty Season 5?"

Another less-than-impressed viewer said: "I feel like this could have been funny but it just wasn't.

"It was just gross. the only thing that made me even think, oh that's funny, is when the president said this is America and it's an election cycle. I hate this."

A third said: "Another day another incredibly traumatic adventure!"

Earlier today, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk tweeted about the show, although it wasn't clear if he'd watched the latest episode.

Musk's tweet read: "Loki is pretty good. Basically, live-action @RickandMorty with a long romance ark [sic]."

Musk actually made a cameo in an episode of Rick and Morty back in season four, voicing Elon Tusk - the alternate version of the Tesla CEO from the tusk dimension.

Earlier this year, Rick and Morty producer Scott Marder, writer Dan Harmon and Spencer Grammer - the voice of Summer - spoke with LADbible during a roundtable interview and were asked about the possibility of a feature length Rick and Morty film.

Scott said: "It'd be daunting, I wouldn't be shocked if there was one that comes down the pipe one day.

"I feel like every episode is a movie. I'd like to see what a movie would be, I feel like we pack so much in.

"It'd have to be pretty epic."

Rick and Morty airs in the UK on Mondays at 10pm on E4.
