A Russian man has been left with a fine to pay after he kicked a man in the face for attacking an 88-year-old woman.
Leonid Shchepel did what any right-thinking person would do in the situation and rushed in to help when he saw Klara Melamed being pinned to the floor by an attacker.
Shchepel flew into action and booted the thug square in the face to force him to get off her. Mrs Melamed suffered broken bones from the horrific assault before her rescuer even arrived.
However, in the aftermath, Shchepel has been fined 5,000 Russian rubles for his role in breaking up the attack. That's about £58 to me and you, but it still seems pretty harsh.
Local media reported that the attack in Klintsy, which is in the Bryansk Oblast in Wester Russia, left the elderly grandmother with a long list of injuries. It could have been even worse for her.
The problem is, Shchepel filmed himself breaking up the attack, and then the person attacking the old woman reported him to the police after he took a hiding. That's what landed the woman's saviour with a fine.
You'd think he'd be mad about it, but he isn't. After the attack, Shchepel said: "I do not regret what I did. Klara's life and health are more important than the money."

We join the action with Shchepel running down a pathway to the sounds of a woman screaming. He arrives at the scene to see the young man pinning the poor old lady to the floor, pulling her hair and generally hurting her.
Leonid takes a pretty drastic, but probably necessary course of action and simply leathers the man right in the face. He knocked him away from the woman and left him subdued.
He didn't even try to fight back, even though Leonid is at this point imploring him to, shouting: "Come on, fight with me, bitch! Fight with me!"
Shchepel then lands a few blows to him that perhaps - in hindsight - were overkill, before helping the old lady across the road to her house.
According to reports, the woman suffered broken ribs, head trauma, bruises, lost teeth, and a dislocated arm.
Shchepel then called her an ambulance.
The police said that the man who attacked Klara was drunk and tried to enter the wrong apartment. He claims that he tried to get into the wrong flat and thought the woman was an intruder. That's when he attacked her.
The 32-year-old has been placed in custody for two months and police are investigating the incident.
