Scott Morrison Accused Of Taking A Family Holiday To Hawaii While Australia Burns

Parts of Australia are going through an 'unprecedented' start to the bushfire season.

Firefighters have been working around the clock for months trying to make sure that lives and homes are safe. But after battling these infernos for so long, they've admitted that it's starting to take its toll.

Elsewhere, people are choking on highly hazardous bushfire smoke that has been blanketing parts of the country.

With all that going on, it wouldn't be an outrageous idea for some of these people to take a holiday to get a bit of R and R. But that's apparently exactly what the Prime Minister has done.

Greens MP David Shoebridge has accused Scott Morrison of taking a family holiday to Hawaii while Australia burns.

It's been confirmed that Nationals leader Michael McCormack is the acting Prime Minister until at least Thursday this week - naturally, people are wondering where Mr Morrison is.

His office has told The New Daily that the country's leader's whereabouts are a non-story, however there will be plenty of Australians who are very interested to see what is so important overseas.

Lives have been lost, hundreds of homes have been destroyed and thousands of animals have been 'incinerated' since the bushfires started and yet it seems like there are bigger fish to fry.

In the meantime, there will be a bushfire summit spearheaded by former fire chiefs that will be held with or without the Prime Minister. The Emergency Leaders for Climate Action say the meeting is a response to the 'huge disappointment in the lack of national leadership during a bushfire crisis'.

The Prime Minister has acknowledged that this bushfire season has been bad and even went as far as admitting that climate change has played a role, but he called for calm.

Former fire chief Greg Mullins said that sentiment is not welcome at this time.

Mullins said: "What we feel is that there's just still this denial of the problem and where we have denial of the problem, there's not going to be any action.

"So we'll go it alone. We'll arrange a national summit that will look at building standards, fuel management practices, response capability and national coordination arrangements.

"We'll invite the prime minister and we hope that he comes too."

No doubt there will be a lot of questions for Mr Morrison when he arrives back from wherever he's been.
