Some Hairdressers Will Charge You More To Fix Dodgy Lockdown Hair

Some Hairdressers Will Charge You More To Fix Dodgy Lockdown Hair

One salon group in Ireland has caused uproar

With hairdressers now given the go-ahead to reopen as of 4 July, that lockdown hair do you gave yourself might cost you more than just your dignity.

One group of salons based in Ireland has said that it will be charging an extra €60 (£54) if its customers have used a box dye to colour their hair, or if they have bad roots.

Peter Mark Hair has posted on its Facebook page to let people know. Spoiler: some people aren't happy, and not just because they look like they've been dragged through a hedge or attacked by a lawnmower.

That lockdown orange dye might seem like less of a good idea now.

The Facebook post read: "So ahead of our doors reopening we thought you would take the opportunity to explain what your colour services will involve when you return to your salon of choice.

"To adjust for the time that has elapsed since your last salon service our teams may need to perform one of three technical applications. These are to address long regrowth, uneven or patchy colour and hair that has faded.

"These additional technical services may require a longer appointment time and should be factored into your salon visit."

It goes on to outline the new services.

The first is a 'Colour Extend' - this is if regrowth is too long for the usual colour application method.

The description says: "A long regrowth is described as any regrowth that is 2 cm or longer. The average rate of growth is approximately 1 cm per month therefore if it is more than 8 weeks since the tint was last done we would treat this as a long regrowth service."

The next service they offer is a 'Colour Detox', which is if clients have chosen to apply colour themselves at home.

They explain: "This service will eliminate patchy uneven results, unwanted dark tones.
A Colour Detox service will ensure a consistent result and add shine and vitality."

Both the 'Colour Extend' and the 'Colour Detox' services cost £41 (€45).

The final choice is the 'Colour Restore', which costs £54 (€60).

The Facebook post explains: "Due to several factors, your hair fades at different rates. Sensitised porous hair will fade at a quicker rate than hair in good conditioned. This can leave you with a dull and uneven colour.

"If your hair currently is two or more levels lighter than your desired colour you will require a Colour Restore Service to improve and restore the condition and vitality of your hair."

One unhappy customer replied: "Absolutely ridiculous. Cashing in on the current crisis."

Another commented: "Now is the time to give the small local salons a chance. Give these cowboys a shock and don't pay for extortionate extras."

A third said: "This is disgraceful. The easiest way out of this is not to go to them."

I mean, or maybe you shouldn't have dyed your hair pink and hacked at it with the bread knife?
