A new hotel has opened in Majorca that operates a strict 'women only' policy.

The Som Dona hotel is in Porto Cristo and is only open to women aged 14 or over, with no men allowed.

The resort, on the east of the island, is open to single women, female couples, businesswomen, mums, daughters and any woman who just wants female company for the week.

Although it will primarily be staffed by women, there may be some male staff working at the Som Dona, in order to comply with Spain's gender discrimination laws.

Inside the hotel itself, it's got everything you could want really, including 'a wellness area, swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, comfortable rooms, lounge bar and a unique environment designed for women', according to the website.

The pool area has a beach theme.

There is also a Sky Lounge where you can buy coffees and cocktails while looking out over the Mediterranean.

Rooms are even available from as little as €70.50 (£62) per night, depending on when you decide to travel and what type of room you'd prefer.

The 39-room boutique hotel has standard doubles, one with a pool view, or the slightly more luxurious Splendit double, which comes with complimentary coffee, minibar, robes and slippers.

The roof terrace has bali beds, a wellness area, pool, bar lounge and 'bold decoration inspired by feminine features'.

There's plenty of room to relax.

If you're not the type to just stay in the hotel, ladies, there are a load of activities nearby that you can get involved with.

The hotel is on the coast of Manacor, really close to the impressive Caves of Drach and Caves of Ham. After you're done exploring these you can relax on the nearby Porto Cristo beach with a cold drink.

The stunning beach is just over 250m long and offers up relaxing hammocks and boat rentals, if you feel like spending a day on or near the sea.

The website describes it as: "A new space for women who are looking to disconnect from the stress of daily life that offers personalised care tailored to their needs."

And while we're talking travel, Ryanair announced its latest flash sale yesterday. If you're lucky you might be able to bag a bargain flight to Majorca.

If you're a woman who doesn't fancy a women-only hotel, or just generally a person of any gender who's looking to get away, there are hundreds of routes to choose from. Snap up a bargain before they all go.
